My Raspberry Pi 3b no longer recognize my USB pen drive

Mon Feb 19, 2018 12:34 pm

I have installed the latest Raspbian and everything was working fine until I remove some packages from add/remove software. After that, my Pi3 can no longer recognize any USB pen drives. I hope someone can help me to bring it back. I don't want to reinstall the Raspbian again because it will take me a long time to install everything back.

Thank you.

boot your pi normally and when it is up and running, plug the USB stick in. Open a terminal and type dmesg If there is anything in there about /dev/sda, paste that here.
You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.
When General Failure and Major Disaster get together, Private Parts usually suffers.

What does the lsusb and usb-devices commands report with & w/o a usb drive plugged in? (To put it another way - is a drive being detected but not being mounted and seen by the filemanager perhaps, rather than "not being recognised")
Trev.
Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

What software did you remove?
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?
