RPI touchscreen dead column

Hi there,

First time poster, be gentle. I've being working with some raspberry pi's at work, and I've discovered a problem with some of the raspberry pi touchscreens. Thought I might check if anyone else has encountered the problem and has a fix.

It appears that the touchscreen has a dead touch column (in Portrait mode, I guess it would be row if held landscape) straight in the middle of the screen, which is a problem because there's buttons in the center that I need to press. It appears to work intermittently however, as after a series of touches at varying pressure it eventually works.

If pertinent the application I'm running is a web page in Flask, but it appears to be affected across more than just that app.

Any ideas?

Sorry should have confirmed that in my first post, yeah it's the official Raspberry Pi touchscreen.

Have the same problem. About 10% of the official touchscreens we used have degraded or totally dead touch area. Have you come up with a fix for this?

I am planning to deploy a few hundred of these touchscreens, this 10% failure rate is concerning, but there are not many similar products available. (most OEM screens use HDMI) what quantities were you using to experience this failure rate?
