Siri doesn’t recognize garage door status

Sat Feb 17, 2018 12:20 am

I configured a Raspberry Pi 3 to use Siri HomeKit as a garage door controller. I used files, https://github.com/legotheboss/YouTube-files, for QuickPi tutorials, https://www.youtube.com/QuickPie. The problem that I have is that although the status of the garage door is closed in the Home App, the garage door will open when Siri states that the garage door is closing. If the close command is issued again with the Home App status open, the garage door will close. If the garage door is opened with the Home App status open and the open garage door command is issued, the garage door will close.

I’ve contacted the author of the tutorial. He stated that he’s tried to fix it but he’s never been able to get it to work. Can anyone tell me if there’s a fix for this and how it can be corrected? I’ve searched the forum but haven’t found anything. I have limited experience in Linux and none in Java or JavaScript so I’ll have to depend on the tutorial’s author and this forum if it’s not a simple fix. Thanks…
