Camera board C8 & C9 capacitors

Mon Feb 05, 2018 8:49 pm

Hi guys,

I accidentally scratched off the C8 & C9 capacitors of a rev 1.3 camera board and will attempt to resolder it back.
Do you know which goes where? One measures ~915.9nF and the other ~897.2nF.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi maravillo,

I'll qualify my comment by saying I haven't looked at the camera board to ascertain the function of these two capacitors, but generally a difference as small as 2% in capacitance reading would suggest they are actually supposed to be the same value. The closest values from the E12 series are 820nF and 1000nF and this series has a 10% tolerance. So, I would think you are probably OK to use either capacitor in either position. Good luck trying to solder them back!

I've not seen a schematic, and haven't done more than a quick prod round with the meter, but ...

For both caps, one end - the end nearest the mounting hole - appears to be connected to ground.
The other end of each cap seems to be connected to +3v3, which seems odd. Why put two caps in parallel so close together?

Never-the-less, try running it without the caps. If it works, even if the pictures are awful, then you can be fairly sure they're not terribly important, and you can replace them with anything ±50%
