Firmware Update Troubles: raspbian, hexxeh updater

Hello. I have a problem with hexxeh updater.
How long wait after running script?
1) run "screen" and start rpi-update
2) run "top" in second "screen" window.
After running updater raspberry working slowly. "Updating firmware (this will take a few minutes)" -- I wait 5..20...30...minutes -- last message -- thats all =) No errors, warning messages... Only "Updating firmware (this will take a few minutes)"
Last attempt -- I wait around ~3 hours.
I can't connect to rpi with ssh if script running and can't make new screen window too if i connect to rpi with ssh before running script.

Firmware upgraded, but it is no normal.
