Network Settings icon

Sun Jan 21, 2018 3:02 pm

I'm having this annoyance with the network applet in the task bar. I just installed Raspbian and I am connected to Wifi. However the network applet always shows this red x icon as if there is a connection issue. When I hover over it shows me info on wlan0 but also that eth0: Link is down. So I'm guessing the system checks if ethernet is up even though I am just connected with Wifi and it constantly shows the red x because the ethernet isn't up, ignoring that I am just using Wifi anyway. The settings doesn't seem to have an option to disable the ethernet check but it's really bugging me that it always shows me a connection issue.
Is there a way to fix this?

If you are connected to an ap with your wifi, then the network icon should show a wifi icon, even if there is no ethernet.

How did you set up your wifi?

I managed to take screenshots to show exactly what I'm talking about. I set up the Wifi originally using that applet.
So even though the Wifi is working fine it shows this error icon and I assume it's because of the eth0 link being down but I don't know for sure.
