HPL test failing on RPi3

Sat Jan 13, 2018 8:25 pm

Hi! I'm trying to benchmark my RPi3 but i have a problem: the HPL test fails everytime i run it, and sometimes the Pi freezes and SSH is unresponsive, so I have to hard reboot it.

I tried lowering the N number to 4000 and it fails again. But, after I underclocked my pi to 1100 MHz the test PASSED succesfully (with N = 8000) at 6.0 GFlops.

Should I replace the board or this is normal behavior? The Pi never reaches more than 73 degrees celsius while running the cpuburn-a53 stress test.

I have read on another topic that I'm not the only one that has this problem, but I couldn't find anyone saying that the test runs succesfully on their Pi without underclock.

I have tried setting over_voltage=2 in config.txt and now it passes everytime using N=8000 and stock frequency.

At the beginning it started with 5.2 GFlops and after repeating the test several times it reached 6.5 GFlops.
