Making a Polaroid style camera

Mon Jan 08, 2018 2:00 pm

Hi Everyone

I'm completely new to this, so please bear with me.

I'm thinking of making a Raspberry Pi powered camera and I'd like it to do the following (ideally):

1. save photos onto a memory card
2. option of printing directly from the camera, polaroid style

Does anyone a) have any tips or b) have any links to examples I can learn from. In particular, what printing unit should I get and how should I connect?

I've seen some that have till receipt printers, which might be ok, but I'd rather have a better quality polaroid style printer.

Many thanks in advance

I don't recommend receipt printers for photos. They are very low resolution and black and white. They also fade.

You might want to look at a Fujifilm Instax printer, or something that uses Zink technology like the HP Sprocket. A slightly larger option would be one of the Canon Selphy units. Instax print quality is incredible.
