USB boot, rpi 3b

Hi, this is my first Raspberry Pi and it is completely refusing to boot from USB (I can't find my microsd adapter). I have done the program_usb_boot_mode=1 routine and checked the vcgencmd otp_dump | grep 17: output, which is correct, but it has made no difference. If I try to boot a stick (I've tried unetbootin, etcher, etc) I just get the red power light, with one single flicker after ~5 seconds. Anybody have any suggestions? I have tried apt-get upgrade, rpi-upgrade

Sorry to hear you are having problems, I have two RPi3, & both have been set to boot from USB, & work flawlessly for me.
My pendrives are created using dd, so I suggest you try that way of creating yours too - good luck.

I've solved this problem. Not sure that I did anything differently, but it now works.
