Pi zeros and Pi zero w no HDMI but does install stretch

Tue Nov 28, 2017 2:03 am

Allo,

All my PI zeros (3) won't display anything after power ON. There is activity as the green LED is flashing. But nothing shows up?

I have had 2 PI 1 model B+, 3 PI2 and 2 PI 3 ... all work, all boot, all show Raspbian up and running. So I fail to see what I did wrong with the PI Zeros??? I check the forum and the web and tried modifying the config.txt. Nothing successful.

Swapped HDMI adapter, HDMI cable, SD cards, displays and even Pi Zeros ... same result.

What did you modify in config.txt? You really should post these details or we'll all waste time.

Is your Pi Zero in a case? If so, try removing the case (it might be preventing the HDMI adapter from fully seating in the jack).

What are you using for a power supply?

Create a new, empty config.txt and try this (and only this):

Code: Select all

hdmi_force_hotplug=1
config_hdmi_boost=8
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?

Had same experience, increasing config_hdmi_boost helped in my setup (lcd+cable+adaper) with plain Zero. Looks like Zero is weaker than Zero W in this regard as Zero W worked without tuning (tried with 2x Zero W, 3x Zero). Also my direct miniHDMI to VGA adapter needs hdmi boosting with Zero.
