Laptop connectivity and linux installation.

Sat Nov 18, 2017 1:25 pm

Hi All,

I do have following as platform

1. I have raspberry pi 2 model b v1.1.
2. Ubuntu 17.04 Ubuntu linux.
3. Other required hardware like HDMI cable, noobs card , keyboard, mouse etc.

I have two iasues-

1. How to interface it with laptop ?

I have checked many links on internet all are saying for vnc server and client . For example : https://www.google.co.in/amp/www.instru ... _page=true

Issue: My issue is
A. How to install vnc server in raspberry cards with noobs or Ubuntu ?
B. How to see the interface on laptop display. I have seen and used same in computer monitor via directly connecting the board with monitor via hdmi-vga coupling cable. But in laptop same can not be done as monitor and cpu /cabinet are in undetachable. How to resolve this issue ??

2. I want to boot raspberry board with uboot and linux kernel version 3 and above , how to do that ??

It will be too much great if some one can provide the links for supporting the solution of these issues or if not available then the solution is full details.

Thanks.

Not sure about the uboot requirement?
But you can use Linux kernel 4.14 now (in the Raspbian distro, which is the best for the Pi by the way).
See this:-

It works fine on the Pi by the look of it, otherwise Raspbian uses kernel version 4.9 by default.

And, note, Raspbian has ssh and RealVNC (a vnc server) pre-installed and ready to use.

Hi All,

Its fine that Raspbian Strbetch with Desktop Operating System has VNC included, but actually for practice purpose and to learn the uboot , linux kernel ,booting and other stuffs I want to learn via this. I need to work specifically with kernel, device driver and boot etc...therefore for me uboot, yocto and other important technique like openwrt become too much important to learn.

Additional issue is if anyone has installed openwrt on respbarry, kindly do share in details step by step process, specifically various selections and configurations to make its binary os image, then kindly do share with me.

So finally I want detailed help with weblink or step by step process for -

1. Uboot and respbarry pi 2 b v1.1 with linux 3.0 and more kernel till prompt.
2. openwrt installation till prompt.

Regards.
