Urgent Help: Open CV installation

Thu Oct 26, 2017 4:48 pm

I am confused and need immediate help with installing Open CV on RPi3 running Raspbian Jessie.
This blog says to compile the OpenCV for python https://www.pyimagesearch.com/2016/04/1 ... -opencv-3/. While I found another pre-compiled OpenCV here https://github.com/Nolaan/libopencv_24/ ... nCV_2.4.10.
And then I came across this command sudo apt-get install libopencv-dev python-opencv from here https://github.com/andygrove/rasp_pi_camera_opencv and now I am confused which is the best and fastest way to get it working.
I tried manual compilation but all the time ended with some kind of error and don't have much time for experimentation sadly.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Since no one cared to solve this issue, I figured out in straight 6 hours! For any beginners who stumble upon such as issue, install the dependencies such as libgtk, numpy, etc i.e follow the guide till installing numpy https://www.pyimagesearch.com/2016/04/1 ... -opencv-3/ and then use the command sudo apt-get install libopencv-dev python-opencv
It installs an old version of OpenCV (2.4.9) but saves tons of headaches and countless hours of troubleshooting literally!

PS: And I really feel newer versions of precompiled OpenCV binaries or .deb packages should be available!
