Usb hdd not staying connected

Sat Aug 12, 2017 9:13 am

Hi.

For some reason my usb hdd that is docked (With own power source) keeps unmounting. I am running a plex media server on my pi3 and keep getting an error on plex saying something like " cannot play file. Make sure it exists or the necessary drive is available.

It worked fine last night. I was using it for a few hours then this morning I get the error.
Is there anyway to force the drive to stay mounted permanently? Or make it periodically mount?
I'm using raspbian Jesse
Pi 3 b
Please help me :-)

Thanks in advance you beautiful people :-)

Is the drive spinning down ? Try

hdparm -S 0 /dev/sda (or whatever the external drive is)
