Unable to fire up the Raspberry Pi :(

Thu Aug 10, 2017 11:54 am

Not quite sure what's going on, but I turned on my Rasberry Pi for the first time today having bought a pre-installed NOOBS SD Card and all I can see is a rather striking coloured screen and nothing else. The SDCard Access light flashes green and the RedPower On light is on.

Not quite sure how to deal with this problem. Any advice gratefully received (before I throw the thing away.)

Never trust "pre-installed" cards. They often have outdated software on them that isn't compatibly with the latest Pi's.

Download Raspbian from here and follow the instructions to re-image the SD card.

If you are still having problems follow the advice on the Boot Problems sticky post
(before I throw the thing away.)
Over 10 million Pi's have been sold. Most problems are user error rather than the quality of the Pi.
