Ribbon cable

Sat Jul 22, 2017 4:32 am

I'm looking for a place to buy either very long ribbon cable or ribbon cable thats been bundled together into a wire. I need this for the camera module (Pi cam v2) and my RPI 3.
Thanks

Define "very long"
Google [raspberry pi camera cable]
The camera sub forum would be a better place to post and/or look for answers: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=43
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

I bought some round cables from pi-cables (he has a store on eBay and also sells direct.)
I think he does up to 2 meters or so. (I got half a meter length.) If you need a lot longer, you may need some other approach.
Cables work fine for me! They're round, but fairly stiff.

You can buy a pair of adaptors that allow use of a standard HDMI cable to extend the camera. Cheap HDMI cables shouldn't be used as they tend to use a common ground rather than separate shields for each pair.

Note this does not convert the signal to HDMI or allow it to connect to HDMI ports, it simply uses the cables as they have the right number and type of connections.

Here's a link to the kits: https://www.tindie.com/products/freto/p ... extension/

They can also be used with the official display, as the cables are the same.
