Not connecting to wifi even after wpa_supplicant

Tue Jul 18, 2017 3:29 pm

Hello, I have read the sticky thread about this, but I have a mac, so almost none of the commands worked. I have been trying for days to connect my Pi 3 to the internet, but no ping or anything. I have given a wpa_supplicant.conf, and still no luck connecting. When I try static IP, and run ping, it says "Host down" or "Host not found" If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

The Raspberry Pi is a Single Board Computer running usually Raspbian Jessie Operating System.

What has a MAC running presumably OSX got to do with activating Wireless ??

Maybe explain what you are trying to achieve would help ??

It doesn't. I just cant run some of the commands on my terminal. I want to figure out how to get a connection to my Pi, it has a wpa_supplicant that I put on it with my SSID and PSK, but it just wont connect to the internet.

Its always best to use the desktop network icon to connect up to your router as a single character error in wpa_supplicant.conf will stop it from working

I dont have a monitor, Im taking a headless approach. I double checked the file, and it is correct.

We've all done that many times :)

Trying to setup 1st Pi headlessly requires the wind to be blowing very favourably - so many things could scupper it working

Are you able to connect it via LAN cable?

Can you then VNC into it and use WiFi connect icon that way?

PS switching routers off and on has helped a lot of others in this situation BTW
