Confused about default repo

Mon Jun 19, 2017 8:00 pm

Hi everyone!

Would you be so kind to point me to the proper repo?

I had the default one in sources.list:

Code: Select all

deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi
and it yields "54 packages can be upgraded. Run 'apt list --upgradable' to see them."

Then I changed it to

Code: Select all

deb http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/ stretch main
and Boom! - "1083 packages can be upgraded. Run 'apt list --upgradable' to see them." The packages are noticeably newer.

So having the latter one is a wiser choice?

Stretch for Raspbian isn't ready for general use yet. If you use it and things break you'll get to keep the pieces.
