HeadlessPi via local network with a Mac without ethernetport

Tue May 23, 2017 8:38 am

Bæm and sorry to bother, but after three days I still can´t figure out how to connect to my Pi and it "slowly" drives me crazy.

I have no Hdmi monitor, nor Usb-Keyboard, nor has my MacbookPro an Ethernet-port.

So I want to connect via SSH over my local network to the Pi, which I´ve connected by ethernet to my router (well, to the repeater, because the router is hardly accessible).

Unfortunatley I´m not able to do so and hope someone can help me with a detailed step by step guide or refer me to the right thread or tutorial.

I am stuck finding my Pi on the network ..i downloaded an IP-scanner but it will only show 5 devices and the Pi is not one of them!

Thanks for your advice!

Hi.

So there are some things to be aware of and might be worth checking.

1. some routers have an isolation policy were by devices on wifi cant see or connect to device on the wired LAN.

2. if your pi is connected to a repeater, does the repeater issue its own IP addresses resulting on device being on a different sub net.

3. log in to your router and look for a connected devices page, most if not all will have one.

4. assuming you are using jessie with pixel or jessie lite, did you activate ssh on the pi to do this put the SD card back in the pc you used to create it and make a file call ssh or ssh.txt in the /boot directory, this will be the only directory you can see on a non Linux pc
