Allo Boss DAC support in raspbian/pixel and/or OSMC

Fri Apr 21, 2017 3:02 pm

I have the Allo Boss DAC and it requires a driver in the kernel (?)

The kernel that includes it is apparently available somewhere upstream - i don't quite understand where, but it is not in the vanilla raspbian install even when full updated from the repo.

for example the necessary overlay is included in this list: https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware ... t/overlays

The correct kernel is already in use by some other distros/products such as dietpi, volumio and max2play.

I would like to use my Boss DAC with a regular Raspbian/Pixel desktop, and possibly also with OSMC.

How can I update my kernel to the one that contains the correct driver?

thanks!

I think the Kernel update is a red herring, I've had a brief look at the kernel on GITHUB and the reference to kernel 4.9.20 is an update of their existing DT-Overlay not a new entry onto the overlay list.

Michalangelo of the Volumino forums has had a Allo Boss Master DAC since before they were released (he was sent a review unit) and has stated that all relevent drivers were present when he received his one.
