Camera module.

Wed Apr 12, 2017 10:29 pm

Hello Everyone,
For the camera module, (when I get one; I don't have one, but I want to get one in the future), is there be a application that is already in Raspbian that can uses the camera module. Do I have to download something to use it, or is there some program that I can open up so I could start using the camera. Thank you.

Hi,
full Raspbian will have the necessary software installed to use the camera (research raspivid and raspistill). I am not sure if Raspbian Lite does, but it can be installed afterwards if it doesn't.

Sorry for the late reply, but I don't have the lite version. I have the full version. So you are saying that Raspbian has the programs to use it already.

Both raspistill and raspivid are part of the libraspberrypi-bin package which is present in Raspbian and Raspbian Lite.
