Need advice for SANE server

Fri Apr 07, 2017 6:45 pm

Need advice, old person - only has iPad, but needs to scan a document from time to time and e-mail it. She has trouble using "photo scan" apps. Would need a solution, must be as easy to use as possible.
I thought I could set up SANE server on raspberry pi, with a cheap flat bed scanner. But I have no clue, if iPad has any good and easy SANE client apps.

Thanks

I have a HP Envy which has a built in WebPage interface, easier then using the HP App IMO !

I have not got the scanner yet, so I can choose. Just probing my options right now.
I think she would not like anything bulky, like AiO printers, even flatbed scanner is a little bit big.
As for web interface, I could use something like "phpSANE", but I think it's too complicated to use. Was even thinking adding some push button to Pi, for scanning and e-mailing straight away... some ugly breadboard contraption, I don't think she'll be happy.
Native iOs app would be nice.
Right now looking at something along the lines of Doxie Go Wi-Fi, or Fujitsu iX100.
Not sure how easy it is to handle portable scanners with feeder.

I've got an ancient (at least 16 year old) Canon CanoScan N670U/LiDE20 SWAIN flatbed scanner that doesn't work with Win8.1 or WIn10 (there's no 64-bit driver available).

I'm running http://phpsane.sourceforge.net/ as that gives me a nice easy to use web interface that anyone in the house can use. It's not brilliant, it's not quick but to get a piece of paper into a PDF it's 100% perfect and if I hadn't got it running with a Raspberry it would have gone to the recycling.
