Raspberry Pi 3 heating problem on booting

Fri Apr 07, 2017 4:59 pm

I have bought Rp3 and i have been using it for ten months. Recently, it's processor started to warm-up while i am using it. Yesterday, when i attempted to run it, it didn't boot on startup and it became too hot. When i touched to it approximately a few seconds, my finger became hot as touching boiled water. Also, i coludn't use it since yesterday. What can i do? Can anyone have an idea or suggestions about this trouble?

If within tens of seconds of powering up the Broadcom chip gets too hot to keep your finger on, then the RPi is dead and cannot be repaired.

A frequent cause is electrical abuse of the GPIOs. Did you have things connected to them?

Inadvertently, i make short circuit it's 3.3v pin and 5v pin, but after that it continued working. Today, when i try to start the rp3, sometimes it works normally(also it becomes hot)

I could fix it, but it's going to cost you about $35 for the repair.

When you connect 5V to a 3V circuit you will cause transistors to burn and latch up. That will cause a short circuit on the main processor chip, running the broken chip after that will allow the damage to spread across the silicon until the whole unit is broken.

At that point the $35 fix is to buy a new Raspberry and pay better attention to what you're connecting.

No. It would cost so much to repair it and you really have to be qualified and have the parts. Plus, they don't sell the chip individually and you can't really solder it to the board. Unless you're looking for something to do for the next year, no.
