30 pin EDP connection for display?

Fri Feb 17, 2017 2:49 am

Hi!

I am new to Raspberry Pi, and I have a question that I could not find the answer for my self with Google.

Can Raspberry Pi use a EDP connection for Display? Say I want to use a 17" laptop screen replacement with a 30-pin EDP connection, can I get an adapter to use it with Raspberry Pi? Through the DSI-connector maybe?

To reuse laptop displays you need a LVDS to HDMI adapter board. Search on eBay with the device type/model of your display.

Google tells me you might mean Displayport. If so, https://www.lindy.co.uk/cables-adapters ... pter-p8455

Thank you guys! I figured it out. For anyone looking for the same; here's what I figured out:

Today, most laptop screens use a 30-pin eDP connection. If you would like to use this for one of your projects, you need a controller board for that specific screen. This will give you an HDMI input - which you can use with your Raspberry Pi 3 HDMI output.

For example:

This laptop screen is named B154EW01 - to find a suitable controller board, we have to search for: "B154EW01 Controller Board".

Hope this was helpful for someone!

Good luck!
