two wildly different ip addresses on my taskbar

Sun Feb 12, 2017 6:46 pm

I just happened to roll over the arrows on the taskbar and it showed two ip addresses one was my static 192.168 etc etc but the other was 169.254.28 something.

there is only one dhcp server (my router) and was worried if this is some sort of attack!!!!!

I disconnected the ethernet cable, reconnected and the additional ip disappeared.

Any ideas???
Thanks

Read this: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3927

and you should understand that there is nothing strange going on, works as designed.
The road to insanity is paved with static ip addresses
