GPIO pin to XMPP Audio Chat

Fri Feb 10, 2017 1:25 am

One of the sideways projects I am looking at as a result of another project, is a home intercom system using the XMPP server I am running on one of my RPI.

I am currently using prosody for video conferencing and had the idea of using the audio call function along with the video as part of the home intercom system (um door bell). Its probably overkill, but using some sort of means to make a push button audio call a group (say other RPI accounts and our cell phones) when someone presses the button at the door, would permit answering the door, even when not home.
Toss in remote access to the CanSec system, and I can not only answer the door intercom while out, but open the door and disarm the alarm.

Anyway, back on topic, does anyone know of a command based XMPP client I could run on a RPI?
