Pi doesn't respond to keyboard

Fri Sep 14, 2012 9:07 pm

I'm using Raspbian and I am not yet versed in Linux. The Pi boots up to the configuration screen but I can't navigate the screen because my keyboard is apparently not being recognized. I have a standard (100+ keys) keyboard with a PS/2 connector. I have a dual PS/2 to USB adapter with just the keyboard connected. The keyboard is getting power from the USB because I can toggle things like the Caps Lock key and see the appropriate LED. Keystrokes are not recognized by the Pi. No other peripherals are connected to the Pi (i.e.: no ethernet, no mouse, using composite video to my TV). Help, please.

I'd try a USB keyboard.

Some PS/2 adapters work, I know because I use one, but there are reports of some not working.

or it could be insufficient power which seems to be the root of many problems.

Ok, I found a USB keyboard at the local thrift store and it works. Guess the Pi is finicky about adapters.
