Dimenssions for ray-tracing the camera

Sun Jan 15, 2017 9:02 pm

Hi!

I want to use the camera to track movements of fish in an aquarium while showing them different stimuli via an external screen. Because this specific experiment involves taking images of a screen through glass and water I'll want to be able to ray trace the whole scene. Everything from the screen, aquarium glass walls, and water is known. I'm not sure about the camera however. Ideally, I'd be able to assign the center of each CMOS pixel to a directional vector in 3D space.

Has anyone done this already? Do we know the dimensions of the CMOS array, the focal length, aperture, refractive index, and curvature of the lens(es?), and anything else I might need to know about the system in order to completely ray-trace it?

I'd appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

Thanks in advance!
