USB Conflicts

Fri Sep 07, 2012 9:08 am

In another post, I talked about setting up my Pi with a wireless USB interface.

Using the dongle, I noticed I had this problem:-

With the dongle plugged in (either into the Pi or the powered hub), the mouse doesn't work! Without the dongle, it's fine, with the dongle, no mouse! This is with the default GUI desktop.

Any ideas? Again, I can provide more info if required. Also, this is a vanilla wheezy install.

Thanks

This is probably caused by a fault in the USB driver. There are problems when you try to use a low-speed USB device in the same hub as a high-speed USB device.

I'm not sure if this particular problem has been fixed yet. I recommend updating your firmware to check if it is fixed. The vanilla Wheezy is over 2 weeks old, a lot has been improved since then.

Was going to say what bredman said. Over on the Stack Exchange site, someone has tried to update the firmware but it appears updating it makes no difference.

So, are the two ports on the Pi a common hub? Would plugging the mouse directly into the Pi help?

I think I tried that and I don't think it helped. Odd that the keyboard works, I would have thought that it would be a slow device as well.

Anyone know of any high speed mice?
