Touchscreen ribbon clip

Sat Nov 26, 2016 10:35 pm

I am missing the Touchscreen ribbon clip. This is preventing me from connecting that small ribbon. Where can I find a replacement for that piece? I'd hate to loose touchscreen functionality because of a tiny piece of plastic.

Help!!

Send it back to where you bought it. You've been sold a dud.

Unfortunately, it's was broken by a co-worker, so I can't return it.

Send him/her the bill for £65 for a new screen.

Or try a hot glue gun.

Work paid for it and my boss broke it. It's sitting on a shelf not being used and if I can replace the clip I can keep it. So I'm hoping I can find just that little clip so this thing is not a waste. The screen itself works fine, just no touchscreen action.

Hot glue is the best option. As long as you can get the cable securely in place and making the right contacts you don't need to be able to remove it (ever).

Sounds like that might be my only options, which is fine... as long as it works! I would love to find a spare replacement clip though. That would be the ideal situation. Even if I had to buy a broken touchscreen off eBay for cheap, I'd be fine with that too!

I took a small piece of paper and folder it and used it like a wedge. I put it in there pretty tight and tested the touchscreen. Worked great. I then put a nice bead of hot glue covering the connector. It's nice and solid now!

No part needed now! I have no idea why I didn't think of just using hot glue. Thanks for the heads up!
