Fried controller board

Mon Nov 21, 2016 10:09 pm

After extensive testing I have figured out that I have fried the controller board for the official display (I even purchased an extra screen and another controller to verify it was the board). So I now have the digitizer and the LCD that both work and I could obviously use the new controller board and also purchase a new digitizer controller to make it work but I really like the all in one package that connects to the pi so cleanly. My question is is it possible to buy just the controller board anywhere? I have looked on eBay and a few other places but all I can find is the single package with all three components. Seems a waste to not use it.

Thanks.

For reasons unrelated to dead controllers, some of us have been asking to be able to buy just the controller board for some time. The reason is that the v1.0 boards don't support any backlight control other than on or off. The v1.1 supports intermediate values. If one could get a v1.1 controller, one could retrofit a v1.0 display...

(I have also seen a reference or two to a v2.0. I have no idea what that is all about. Perhaps someone will comment.)
