Send&Receive 50MHz-1GHz

Wed Oct 26, 2016 7:29 pm

Hi.
I have a Pi 3 and I'd like to figure out a way to both send and receive/record data in the 50MHz to 1GHz range. (Ideally between 50MHz or even lower and 1.5GHz!)
The OS that I'm running is a rolling release of Kali for ARM.

There is a USB option called the Yardstick One ( http://greatscottgadgets.com/yardstickone/ ) that may be suitable, however it costs about $200. Other options would be appreciated. Can I expect prices in this range for broader range devices such as this? The yardstick does frequencies less than 1GHz. :D :)
I need to receive and transmit. I looked into getting the TI C1111 board that the yardstick is based on but don't have enough electrical expertise to figure out how to put a gain antenna on the back of one, unless I found step-by-step instructions.

I also have several arduino boards (uno/mega chips). If need be, I can use this in conjunction with the pi (via whatever bridge you recommend) to accomplish the goal.
I don't have much experience with the arduino, however, and am not sure if a standalone arduino with this solution would be user friendly or easy to use on the go. I like the friendly interface of the pi.
