Using SD card for extra RAM?

Mon Sep 03, 2012 3:32 pm

Could it be possible to use an SD card for more RAM?

I've ordered my RPi today, said to arrive in 3 weeks but i'm still trying to find out if it's worth it to buy a super fast one (90MB/s).

No, unless you count swapfile as ram ;)
Android app - Raspi Card Imager - download and image SD cards - No PC required !

I was thinking of a small partition, but i think a swapfile will do too.

Would a swapfile mean much difference at that speed?

It just means that any programs you run can have higher memory requirements, but will run a bit slower if they have to swap out to SD card.
