VNC access from browser using Pixel release

Sun Oct 02, 2016 4:21 pm

HI,
So I have installed pixel and enabled VNC with no problems.

What I would really like to do is get access to VNC from a browser, there were some instructions for wheezy which worked but I have not managed to get them to work with JESSIE or Pixel.

So, has anyone managed to do this?

it would help me with my code club as the school has VGA monitors, I have got several PIs networked with static IP addresses, if we could remote log in through a browser it would be brilliant.

thanks

Steve

The old Java based TightVNC stuff that ran in a browser got badly broken by Sun/Oracle (https://java.com) when they got exceedingly paranoid about JVM security for web browser apps/applets. It was an unsigned Java applet so couldn't be allowed to work with Oracle's more security concious model.

I'm not sure RealVNC ever had that feature.

Have you tried signing up for a free weaved.com account and then using this to access your pi via VNC from either your browser, on a computer, or via the weaved apps on your phone or tablet? It is limited to 30 minute sessions though unless you upgrade.
