Can you run kerbal KSP on pi3?

Fri Sep 30, 2016 6:37 am

Has anyone tried this on a pi3? Is it fast enough? There is not much on the internet about it. Also when you download the KSP .zip for linux the files look like windows files. I must be missing something here

The KSP linux version has been compiled for running in "Intel compatible" x86 processors not ARM.

A bit more informative than the first post. Anyways is ARM the exception not the rule? Does this become a big problem when you are trying to use most "linux" programs? I bought the pi so I could have a Linux machine to learn and complement the PC. Or am I going to find out that there are alot of limitations due to the ARM architecture? One big thing is I want to use Software Defined Radio on it, but that doesn't do any good if most/everything is x86. :(

you asked a simple question - I provided the answer in the best way possible - if you wanted more info maybe the question could of been phrased better.

however
if you want to do 90% of what linux boxes do - i.e. the packages that are in the debian apt-get system then the RPi is fine -and will get you a long way down the road ,
if you want to run specialized programs from none authoritative sources then you will have difficulties [not that there is not a way for these things to work] YMMV

running a RPi is a great way of complimenting your x86 PC just be aware that it is not a machine that has the same power of most laptops / desktop you are likely to have
