RPi 2 won't boot

Thu Sep 01, 2016 7:51 am

Hi all,
before heading to the problem, I tried the pinned post and it didn't solve my problem
I have problem with booting my RPI. it was working just after while of not using it (because of exams :( ) it won't start at all. I tried to install new os, change sd card, change the cable, they didn't work. it even can't read usb, ethernet or the hdmi. when it connected to power supply, it gives solid power and solid activity light for leds as shown in this link ( no blinking activity led at all just on all the time)
http://imgur.com/G3Ac9FZ
what is the problem ?
any hope to solve the problem

then give up, it contains all the answers, you want find any others.
Or you could just read it again, and try something you didn't do before.
good luck.

Or you could just read it again, and then ACT to what you read, like trying another PSU/cable, and another SD-card.
I tried with 5 different HDMI cables, USB cables, uSD Cards and even keyboards and mice.
I have it in December and it worked like 5 hours and got fired :(

well that sucks.

Changing mice etc does nothing, as you should always test with a minimal setup, so without anything connected at all, its just that unless the ACT led starts blinking you get no boot process going.

don't you have a friend with a PI, so you can try his PSU, and sd-card?

actually, the lab has like 10 of them, but RPi 1 with 26-pin and single usb. anyway, I tried on the SD cards but same problem.
it seems the Pi is gone

well that sucks.

try reading this: viewtopic.php?p=1030861#p1030861 it might help.

its seems your PI is a goner.

what does that mean? a newly created card that boots on the PI 1 should also boot on your PI.

an OLD card made for a PI 1 may not boot on a PI 2.

Were (any of) those SD cards fully updated/upgraded? If not then their failure is a bit of a "red herring" since, IIRC, a RPi 2 needs different "firmware" than a RPi 1 (different RAM types etc.) - this has been a common issue when "old" pre-loaded (NOOBS) SD-cards have been supplied with kits including "newer" Pi's.
Trev.
Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

I formated the sd card and flash it whizzy directly using win32diskimager and noobs, but the results are the same
activity led solid green

If by "whizzy" you mean Raspbian Wheezy then that's probably too old - you should try the current version of Raspbian Jessie.
Also are you trying to use either Win32diskimager or NOOBs methods (not both!)? Finally, are you using a "built-in" card slot or an (external) USB card reader/writer? (The latter should be more reliable)

yeah I meant Jessie, but mind is still thinking about whizzy (I have no clue why). and yeah I used USB adapter and flash each one of them one time not booth of them on same sd card

There is no further help available. From what you have said, the experts' opinion is that the RPi is dead.
