Make Python 3 default

Wed Aug 31, 2016 10:34 pm

Hello,

I have a Pi 3 running Jessie, with Python 2.7 and Python 3 on.

At the moment any .py files open in Python 2.7 by default.

How can I set python 3 as the default Python? and IDLE 3 as the default editor?

uninstalling 2.7 is not an option - just tried it and stuff broke...

Thanks
Jon

wish I had seen your post earlier - just spent a lot of time with something that wasn't broke, and definitely fixed it til it was...

I was surprised to see it wasn't default already, since Raspberry push the use of 3 as the default version to use.
