Raspberry Pi and external Hama SD card reader problem

Hello!

This is my 1st post on this forum! Yay! I have bought my Raspberry pi 3 few days ago and already found thousands of uses of it. Because I am also a photo enthusiast I was thinking about great idea - change my raspberry to sd card backup machine. Few months ago I have bought Hama card reader usb https://www.hama.com/bilder/00055/awx/00055310awx.jpg and I checked if it works with Rasp. Raspbarian has mounted this properly and I could check the files on the card. Part 1 of the idea was working.

Than I wanted to use:

So I thought that maybe 27 MB files can't be somehow copied to the micro sd card of my rasp, but the same problem I have got with external USB drive.

I have also noticed that the power LED starts to blink and then switches off. Does anyone have some ideas? is is possible to backup SD card using raspberry? I would be very grateful for the ideas because this would make a great deal to me.

Power LED not being constantly lit almost always means inadequate powering arrangement. PSU and/or cable berween it and RPi.

The card reader has 5V 128mA. Do you think it might be too much for raspi?

No it isn't too much for the RPi, but if adding the card reader (and card) is causing the PWR LED not to be constantly lit, then your powering arrangements are marginal even without them.

it is very wierd because I am using standard RPi power supply. I will check also other power source
