Can we make new boards by using Rasberry Pi 2/B schematucs ?

Mon Aug 22, 2016 7:37 am

Hi,

We need Raspberry Pi 2/B CPU board for industry use ( temperature, humidity, bibration and shock test will be needed ).
Can we make new boards by using Raspberry Pi 2/B schematic information as the followings ?
https://www.raspberrypi.org/wp-content/ ... .2_027.pdf
Of course, we will be trying to make new boards by taking off main necessary devices on the purchased Raspberry Pi 2/B
boards.

Does anyone have similar experience and please advise us.

Thanks inadvance.

Best regards,

You have 2 choices, firstly Element14 offer a Customization Service: https://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-76955

Secondly use the Compute Module and have a Customised BaseBoard Manufactured: https://www.element14.com/community/doc ... ute-module

.

There are companies out there that already manufacture Industrial grade SBC's. The Case would be the biggest issue in protecting it, because not only will it have to allow the unit to breathe from the high temps. But also not allow any outside particles into the unit, which can cause shorts from it covering the electronics and board.
Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Ren: Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool! Stimpy: So what'll happen? Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good.

Whilst I seem to recall something from the Foundation saying the circuit design was 'open source', the PCB layout ('Gerbers') are not

So you would have to do your own layout == fine if you already have CAD system, less so if you have to pay for outside work == or contact the Foundation and see if you can Licence the layout files as a 'starting point'

With the CM (and soon--hopefully--the CM3) you can design your own carrier board to include anything you can think of that can be supported by the SoC. Building your own variants of the Pi would be very difficult unless you plan to make very large numbers of them. This is because Broadcom doesn't sell the SoCs in small lots, where "small" is going to be 100s of thousands at a time with repeat orders expected.

Also gumstix custom compute module service which might be cheaper than element14's custom service (no minimum)
