Thu Aug 18, 2016 11:38 am

I followed the instructions and logged in using pi and raspberry. From then on there is no login screen and I have tried to create a new user but having trouble achieving this. I have tried changing the config file but it will not allow me to save it. I'm now at a loss as to what to do to have access to change the config file.
I am using raspberry 2 B and downloaded using NOOB. I have had fun writing programs that work but need to change the config file to setup my Elecrow display with resolution 800x400.
Finding access to edit files frustrating.

open a command prompt
type
sudo raspi-config
then you can change the boot options.

to edit the config you need to be root
type
sudo nano /boot/config.txt

Thank you for that info, can now successfully edit config.txt.

Perhaps you can help with another problem. For my project I have got a monitor from Elecrow HDMI Display Monitor 5 inch HD 800x480 TFT LCD for Raspberry Pi 2B and 3B. I have tried changing the overscan settings and the hdmi_mode settings but I can not get it to fill the screen. The monitor only has hdmi connector.

Thanks

I have tried booting into NOOB by holing down shift key during the boot process but pi still goes into Raspbian. Is there any other of getting into NOOB?

if you press shift BEFORE the USB driver is up, it won't be registered.
solution is to repeatedly press/release shift during boot up. until the NOOBS screen re-appears.
keep trying!
