raspberry pi- connectify

I am using raspberry pi 3 with raspbian installed.
Unfortunately I live in a place where only registered devices can connect to wifi for internet access. I want to upgrade my raspberry pi for which I'm using connectify to create wifi hotspot in my laptop and access pi remotely through my mobile.
It was successful and my upgrade was completed till 55% but the download speed in connectify dropped to 0 kbps and never increased.
I tried it again and even this time the download stopped at 30%.
Is there any alternative for this method as i need to upgrade my raspberry pi really bad.
Please help me out with this problem!!

my phone has 2g connection which is very slow. The router has decent 2.5g speed . My laptop and mobile is registered to wifi router . So I am connecting my laptop to wifi router and creating wifi hotspot through connectify which any device can access.
The raspberrypi is configured to that connectify hotspot. And my mobile is connected to connectify hotspot.
My mobile is moto g , android v6 , which gets the IP address of raspberry pi , and remote access is possible via SSH client .
Remote access is successful but the internet connection is not stable.

I didnt understand the usb tethering you are talking about.
All i need is internet access to raspberry pi where there is no LAN and inaccessible WiFi router.

Please help!

I am totally confused why you are:

Router WiFi - Laptop WiFi ~ HOTSPOT ~ Mobile Phone - Raspberry PI

Why not just:

Router WiFi - Laptop WiFi ~ Internet Connection Sharing ~ Laptop Ethernet - RPi Ethernet

I dont have an external TV with me , how can i access the pi remotely if i go for bridging the laptop wifi and LAN ?
