Convert HDMI as input

Sun Jul 24, 2016 11:56 pm

Has anyone been able to take a video being transmitted via HDMI, input that signal into a Pi, and send it to a video recorder?

Thank you from a newbie Joe R.

Not possible, the RPi has no video or audio input of any kind.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

There exist USB capture devices priced 100 to 200 US dollars that will accept unencrypted HDMI input from a video game console or video camera. However, it is not clear of any of these are compatible with the Raspberry Pi. There are a few interesting comments about getting HDMI video onto a Pi on a failed kickstarter page.
