16x2 LCD display - Letter boxes too bright

Sat Jul 16, 2016 10:46 pm

Raspberry Pi 2
16x2 LCD display

The letter boxes around the letters stand out, how do I get them to match the background? I can adjust the background with a potentiometer, but the letter boxes still show up.

You need to lower the contrast by adjusting the voltage on pin 3 of the LCD.
See e.g. http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2012/0 ... ht-switch/

Thank you for the quick reply.

I removed the potentiometer and added 1,330K resistance to pin 3 on the LCD. The white lettering now stands out on its own against the blue background. Very nice display and easy on the eyes.
