Hi all,
This is my first post on the site. I'm very much a beginner, so bear with me if I don't have all the concepts down yet.
I just bought a Raspberry Pi B and a Sainsmart 3.5" touchscreen to use in a car audio project. This is a 1968 Mercury Cougar - right now just an AM radio. I want to mount the Pi and touchscreen on the car's dash, and run the audio out to a small hidden amp.
The Sainsmart touchscreen fits the space I have perfectly, but unfortunately the touchscreen doesn't work with OSMC or any of the KODI-based media centers. I was hoping to use OSMC so the larger controls would show up better on the tiny screen.
So far, the only way I've been able to get this screen to work is with the vendor-supplied image. So, my question is twofold:
1) is there a media player that I can install on the vendor image that brings up a skin that'll be easy to see on the tiny screen?
OR....
2) Has anyone been able to get a media center image to work with one of these smaller touchscreens? Everything I've read has pointed to the KODI-based images not allowing use with these small screens (except for the 7" screen, which won't work in the space I have available), so if anyone knows of a media center image out there that will work with the small screen, I'm all ears.
Thanks for any advice.
Nick
