Pi3 lacks power
I have connected a 7 Seg single digit to the GPIO pins on the Pi3 but the segments hardly glowed, The same setup when run on the Arduino Uno the segments shone a bright red. Now I know that the Pi3 pins run at 3.3 Volts and the Arduino pins are 5 Volts but I changed the resistors to compensate for the lower voltage but it made no difference. Can anyone comment on why.
Re: Pi3 lacks power
Can you post the specifications (voltage, current, etc) for the display you used, or post a link to where you got it from?
It may be that it requires too much current for the Pi's GPIOs if it is a large display.

Re: Pi3 lacks power
Many thanks 'rpdom' for reply. I think you are correct in what you you say about the RPi3 pins not being able to supply enough current. In fact I have given up the experiment with this 7 Seg as being too much for the Rpi3 to drive.
