Has anyone got SABnzbd+ running under Raspbian?

Wed Aug 22, 2012 4:38 pm

If not, should I just use vanilla Debian? The version of Python seems to be giving SABnzbd+ installation errors under Raspbian, but it may just be my Debian/Linux unfamiliarity.

Thanks!

Yes, I have it working - just followed the instructions from: Ubuntu PPA Repository

Start at the How To Install point.

ie.
sudo apt-get install sabnzbdplus
sudo apt-get install sabnzbdplus-theme-mobile
sabnzbdplus

A couple of things to note:
1) Before running sabnzbdplus, start X and have a browser installed, (eg. midori), so you can do the Wizard setup easily.
2) Change the interface from the default Plush to Classic ASAP. ie. When you go to http://<RPi IP>:<port>/sabnzbd for the first time, go to Config->General, change the interface, Save and Restart.
The RPi doesn't have the grunt to serve the Plush interface and it will appear to lock up.

Thanks for the help. My Pi arrived yesterday so I'll give this a go as soon as possible.

How do you find the performance of SAB to be on the Pi? I've read in several posts on this forum that the download speed can be quite low.

ATM sabnzbd+ is still running on my XP machine but I expect the performance on the RPi to be in line with the EPIA EP8000SG, (800MHz), I used to run it on.

I had the same problems with the Plush interface on the EPIA that I do with the RPi.

On the EPIA, networking was a little slower than my current setup - slowing down a fair bit when it was busy doing par or unarchiving, there are options to have it pause the queue whilst doing that though.

Still, running the RPi + USB HDD should be a fair bit more power efficient than my current 40-50W setup.

;)

Yeah I expect repairing and unrarring to be pretty slow, however it'll be operating during the night so I'm not too bothered, unless we're talking days to repair files!

I too am looking forward to some savings on the electricity front.

A quick follow up.

4wd's instructions worked perfectly, thank you for your help! I've got a problem with my unrar program though, the problem is that I don't have one!

I know there are instructions on this forum to install unrar-free, once I find them, I'll post them here for the benefit of others.

Thanks again for your help 4wd.

apt-get build-dep unrar-nonfree
apt-get source -b unrar-nonfree
dpkg -i xxxxxxxxx.deb (<-- insert name of .deb created above)

From this thread: Rar and unrar on Raspbian

Worked fine for me.

These instructions did not work for me, but Sander's post on this thread did:

http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... ar#p151313

I don't think my Pi is stable for large downloads however, 120MB wasn't a problem, 10GB was a problem.
