ultrasonic sensor with puredata and raspberry

Sat Jun 11, 2016 1:07 pm

hello again super helpers!

I was wondering if it would be possible to write a patch in puredata that could speak with an ultrasonic sensor and raspberyr pi?

the thing is I would like to control a video on my pi through vibrations of the ultrasonis sensor, and i thought puredata could be a help for that ?

is it possible to link them together?

bests,

Hey, I am wanting to create something maaybe kind of similar to this. I would like to rig a turntable up with a sensor of some sort to trigger digital effects in PD with the source being records.

I know that Pi, and Arduino, can be brains to communicate analogue or physical stimulus into digital output (+effects) with a program like Pd. The Pi is better for video bc of the RCA inputs, so if you are running off a tape-deck or camera you may not even need the sensors. To my knowledge what you are suggesting can be done quite `easily` with PureData.

For my project, I thought about using a contact mic, but as I am after noise and not the musical components of the records (only the vibrational `mapping`or structure of the disks, and capturing the physical kinetics of the record, as opposed to just the vibration from the box or sound through a speaker or output signal) maybe using an ultrasonic tranducer (which I know little about) would get me what I need.

It would be really interesting to chat about this or exchange emails and resources, as the process for both projects should be about the same (I am guessing you would be using the sensor to feed off of tape?)

Maybe this is long completed and you could give me some tips or links to what you have acheived. Take care, B+++
