Hi,
Does anyone know how to set the headset 3.5mm audio out to Stereo? I followed the help here http://blog.ziade.org/2012/07/01/a-rasp ... ox-how-to/ to get audio working, and then found out how to control volume with amixer.
So then when I type amixer I get this:
root@raspberrypi:/home/jdeltoft# amixer
Simple mixer control 'PCM',0
Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined penum
Playback channels: Mono
Limits: Playback -10239 - 400
Mono: Playback -1200 [85%] [-12.00dB] [on]
I'm wondering, the "Playback channels" shows Mono. Can that even support Stereo??
Also, what is pswitch and penum and pvolume??

It is mono only.
AFAIK , the whole analog audio uses the worlds simplest
circuitry and works to 90 % through software. If you want good sound , use HDMI.
There are other methods , just search around.

Well, I guess don't believe everything your read. I just downloaded left.mp3 and right.mp3 from here, and played them.

They work perfectly as they should. So the amixer details on PCM I guess is just lying or just very confusing with what it's trying to describe?

Hi Eradicatore,
I have made same experiment with some other stereo .mp3 before seeing your post and it is true. It is working stereo but not showing as stereo. Currently you can not control volume separately just left or just right channel.
I have tested my new USB sound card and it is showing stereo. link
