Forum feedback: Wishlist

Sat May 21, 2016 1:12 am

Am I blind? Am I ignorant? I can't find the posts/threads I've created/contributed to. That ought to be a prominent option in the UCP(UserControlPanel)'s menu/heading, giving a listing of a user's activity rather than the current statistical overview of same. Listed as clickable links rather than having to search through thousands of posts (though I'm heartened that the forums are that active!).
TIA ...

p.s. a further thought, a possible addendum: given the above, how much effort would be involved in implementing RSS? Timely notifications of replies (and Blog posts) would be most welcome!

There's a link hidden away under your public user profile, rather than in the UCP (took me a little while to find it too when I was looking last week), which runs a search against all posts with your author id.

search.php?author_id=85269&sr=posts

If you use prosilver then there's a link at the top of the page: search.php?search_id=egosearch
And there's a link in the UCP, tab 'Overview' called 'Show your posts' in both themes.
(and Blog posts) would be most welcome!
There's a link to the 'RSS Feed' on the main page: http://www.raspberrypi.org/feed/

An opthalmologist should probably come before the optician.

It's a Brit thing :) "The opticians" would be the all-in-one store where you both get a sight test by a qualified practitioner, get your prescription, walk to another desk to get measured for the glasses, and order them (and in some cases, go for a walk down the street and come back to collect them an hour later.)

Times must have changed. Last time I bought spec's in Blighty the "optician" was a one man show. He had is small shop, checked and tested your eyes and sold you the spec's. I still have such an optician over here.

I guess all those small businesses have been put out of business by the likes Specsaver or whatever. Like all the butchers and grocers and fish mongers etc before them.

I'm no fan of Specsavers, but I don't think we can blame them for putting "all the butchers and grocers and fish mongers etc" out of business. There optics aren't that awful. (Turns, ducks and runs.)

Optician (Dispensing optician) is a technical practitioner who designs, fits and dispenses corrective lenses for the correction of a person's vision.

Optometrist carries out detailed eye examinations to test vision and identify problems.

Ophthalmologist is a specialist in medical and surgical eye problems.
