Light Painting with Rasberry Pi

HI all,

I've just bought my first Rasberry Pi, purely for the purposes of Light Painting.

I've since found this link to build a rig for a programmable LED strip. http://learn.adafruit.com/light-paintin ... i/overview

Now i'm stuck with the power side of things! I now it needs a 5 Volt DC power supply but ideally it shows to use a 10amp power supply (as i'll be using a longer LED strip). So how on earth do I go about powering it? I'm new to this and I don't want to risk damaging the circuit board. Ideally I'd need this to be as portable as possible so I can use it outdoors with little to carry.

Something like a small UPS battery would be ideal.
Buy one, or get a used one for free;
people throw old ones out all the time.

Have you had any success with you light painting rig? I just finished wiring mine up, but am having issues with the code. I know nothing about programming and am really struggling with this.

I have not really found a good way to control the device out in the field. I can only think of bringing a laptop along, ssh into the raspberry pi, and then edit the line of code that points to the hello.png file each time I want to change photos.

As for power, I bought a 6V 5aH battery like this one
