SD card corrupts

Hi

I'm going through some problems at installing openelec; it looks like corrupted SD cards are quite common with it but, in my case, corruption produces just after flashing the image, if I try to read it, Windows tells me that a format is needed. Obviously, it doesn't boot when I turn my rasp on.

I'm using RPi 3 and genuine 8gb sdhc class 10 toshiba sd.

Am I doing something wrong or..?

Yes you are doing it wrong. Why are you trying to read it using windows?

I recently installed OpenElec on my Pi3 without issue.

Download OpenElec, extract with 7zip, 'clean' sdcard in diskpart, then write image to sdcard with diskimager. remove sdcard from windows pc reader, insert in Pi3. Get a proper power supply (5.1V 2.5A or 5.25V 2.4A), and plug the HDMI cable into Pi3 and HDTV, then power it up.

Word of advice, use an sdcard bigger than 8GB.

Yes you are doing it wrong. Why are you trying to read it using windows?

I tried because when I plugged to the TV, it did nothing. Guessed that it wasn't normal, because with other images I had been able to see the files in the sdcard. However, I'll try again your way.

By the way, my power supply is 5V/2A, which I thought was enough in case I wasn't connecting any peripherals, could it also be the reason of no booting?

Just to say, I've been able to boot with the same sdcard, supply etc with raspbian and no problem.

If you don't want problems down the road with Pi3, replace it with the proper power supply.

if you plan to use the pi3 as media center, get a 32GB EVO+ UHS-1/HC-1 Samsung micro sdcard. Cost is like $11 (in the US anyways at Bestbuy).

The truth is that I'm quite new in this so I'm just seeing what I can do and so I started with the common media center. That's why, by the moment, I've just "general purpose" accesories, but I take note of your advice. I'll try with another power supply and I'll see.
